Leading the Next Generation

Ever felt like a fish out of water, like the old lady or man in the room, like Joey laughing along with your friends having no clue what they’re talking about? Did you know there are currently 4 different generations in the workforce - Baby Boomers, Gen Xers, Millennials, and Generation Z (aka the iGeneration)? For many of us, leading the newest generation in the workplace (Gen Z) can be confusing and daunting.
"Don't be afraid if you need to change something."
In his leadership podcast, “Here’s What I’m Seeing…”, Adam Tarnow highlights 4 key responses this new generation is looking for from its leaders - coaching, feedback face to face, utilizing their ability to shift and adapt, and respecting the way they think about equality. Will McIlroy joins Adam as a subject matter expert (being a member of Gen Z himself) to help leaders navigate the unique challenges and opportunities that come with this new generation entering the workplace. So much of what Will highlights that it is easier to lead face to face where tone can be clear and both sides can feel heard and understood.
To paraphrase Harry S. Truman, "All Leaders are Readers"...or in this case, Listeners.
